MADISON, Wis. (Purdue Sports) Despite a late push by the Boilermakers which saw five hits in the final two innings, the Purdue softball team (15-26) fell 5-0 to Wisconsin (18-19) at Goodman Softball Complex. The winning run was recorded in the third inning by the Badgers.
Purdue registered 8 hits in the outing. Five came within the final two innings, and despite loading the bases in the sixth, the Wisconsin defense held firm. Kasey Wilhoit produced the team s lone double while Becca Jones and Sydney Bates led the day with two hits apiece.

Sunday s 4-2 victory, led by Rachel Becker s two runs, secured Purdue softball s series win over Ohio State.

Purdue softball (13-23) continued its hot streak after sweeping yesterday s doubleheader to close out the series with Ohio State (18-17), with three straight wins and a final series record of 3-1.
Pitcher Savanah Henley tossed 4.1 innings before Sydney Bates entered the circle in relief in the top of the fifth. Henley (4-7) notched a pair of strikeouts in the win.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) Five runs in the first two innings proved too large a deficit for the Boilermakers, falling 5-1 in the series opener versus Ohio State on Friday evening.
With the result, Purdue softball moves to 10-23 on the season while Ohio State (18-14) recorded the first win in West Lafayette since 2008.
Relief pitcher Ashley Peters allowed just one run through 5.1 innings of work, entering the game for Savanah Henley (3-7) in the second inning. With the Buckeyes sharp eye, the duo was unable to serve up a strikeout in the meeting.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (Purdue Sports) Despite two runs in the first innings, the Purdue softball team could not close out its series finale at Michigan State, falling on a walkoff 3-2 and splitting the four-game road set.
Purdue s seven hits came from three players. Rachel Becker went 3-for-3 at the plate with a run, a double and a walk. Freshman Kaitlyn Brannstrom went 2-for-3 and drove in the only runs of the game for Purdue. Kiley Goff also posted a 2-for-3 outing.

Michigan State softball could not overcome a seven-run outburst from Purdue in the sixth inning as they were bombed, 9-6, in a rain-soaked battle on Saturday afternoon with the Boilermakers. The Spartans fell to 1-2 in the weekend series against Purdue and 8-16 overall on the season.
