MADISON, Wis. (Purdue Sports) Despite a late push by the Boilermakers which saw five hits in the final two innings, the Purdue softball team (15-26) fell 5-0 to Wisconsin (18-19) at Goodman Softball Complex. The winning run was recorded in the third inning by the Badgers.
Purdue registered 8 hits in the outing. Five came within the final two innings, and despite loading the bases in the sixth, the Wisconsin defense held firm. Kasey Wilhoit produced the team s lone double while Becca Jones and Sydney Bates led the day with two hits apiece.

The pair of games came on Senior Day, where the program honored Sydney Bates and Ryleigh Scott, who closed out their time in Bittinger with a split series with the Wildcats (2-2).
Pitcher Ashley Peters led Purdue to its fourth shutout of the season and her second complete-game shutout of 2021. The winning run was recorded by freshman Kiley Goff, thanks to an RBI by the designated player Alex Echazarreta.

Left-handed pitcher Ashley Peters recorded the win in Game One, moving to 4-6 overall this season after entering in the second inning. Meanwhile, the complete game effort by senior Sydney Bates to close out the day moved her to an even 6-6 record.
