Chattanooga State Chautauqua Lecture Series Presents The Border: Motif, Metaphor And Political Football Monday, February 8, 2021 - by Keri Lamb, Chattanooga State The Humanities and Fine Arts Division of Chattanooga State Community College will host the fifth installment of its 2020-2021 virtual Chautauqua Lecture Series on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. This is a fully virtual Zoom event, with pre-registration required. In 1874, people gathered on the shores of Chautauqua Lake in New York State to enjoy speakers, teachers, musicians and specialists who entertained and educated members of the community, thus catalyzing an adult education movement that subsequently spread throughout rural America. Since 2014, Chattanooga State has hosted its own monthly Chautauqua to unite faculty, students, staff and the larger Chattanooga community in exploring a wide array of topics within the Humanities.

Chattanooga State Selected For Inaugural Racial Equality Leadership Academy Thursday, February 4, 2021 - by Betty Proctor, Chattanooga State Chattanooga State Community College has been selected as one of 10 colleges nationwide to participate in the inaugural Racial Equity Leadership Academy. Bond Arts And Culture Series Honors Black History Month At Chattanooga State Tuesday, February 2, 2021 - by Betty Proctor, Chattanooga State Dr. Adonijah Bakari will present Hidden Facts and Truths About Black History on Feb. 10 In honor of Black History Month, Chattanooga State will present a series of virtual events open to the campus and community during February.   The Bond Arts & Culture Series, The Ties That Bond, will kick off February with a Tribute to C.C. Bond, a video presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 3. The late Dr. Claude C. Bond was a longtime educator and activist known in the community for his work toward improving race relations. Chattanooga State Volleyball Takes Close Match Over Visiting Cleveland State Wednesday, February 3, 2021 Cleveland State and Chattanooga State Volleyball’s first match of the 2020-21 season was a thriller, as the visitors fell in a tight five-set match at Chattanooga State 3-2. The Lady Cougars came out strong, winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-17. However, the Lady Tigers stormed back to defend their home floor, winning the next three sets 25-23, 25-21, and 15-11. Chattanooga State travels to Walters State on Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. match.  Cleveland State will play their first home match of the season as they host Roane State in another conference matchup. First serve is set for Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

No. 13 Lee Men Win Over Auburn Montgomery 62-56 Wednesday, February 3, 2021  The No. 13 Lee men s basketball team withstood a late run by Auburn Montgomery to secure its eighth straight win, 62-56 on Tuesday evening. The Flames led by as many as 16 points with 15 minutes remaining in the contest before the Warhawks cut the deficit all the way to two at 49-47 off a Stanley Davis 3-pointer at the 9:34 mark. Both teams went scoreless over the next two minutes before Beyuan Hendricks ended the drought for the Flames with a crucial triple off a pass from Noah Boler. Junior Quay Kennedy once again stepped up in the clutch for Lee as he scored the final four points, two fouls shots and a breakway dunk to seal the victory.
