Willow Springs residents elated, no sewer or water hookups for the neighborhood, City Council says
Members of the Willow Springs and Deerwood Park neighborhoods voiced their concerns, and cheered, the Detroit Lakes City Council s vote to limit the scope of their utilities expansion to the area during the council s regular meeting at The Pavilion in Detroit Lakes on June 8, 2021. Residents said they were concerned about the cost of the special assessments associated with city sewer and water hookups for their larger lot sizes and wanted street improvements only, which council members agreed to, and voted into the new five-year capital improvement plan. Council members also approved a submission for a $1 million bond request for next year s state legislative session to improve the facilities at the Washington Avenue Ballpark.
Members of the Willow Springs and Deerwood Park neighborhoods in Detroit Lakes, north of Oak Grove Cemetery, expressed their concerns over the cost of proposed city assessments that would improve roads and connect the neighborhoods to the city's public utilities.
