Sunshine Coast Council Ever wondered what happens to the rainwater that drains from your roof, driveway and yard once it leaves your property? It’s likely that it enters Sunshine Coast Council’s extensive stormwater network, captured by a series of drains and is carried through underground pipes, before being discharged into local waterways draining to the ocean. Environment and Liveability Portfolio Councillor Maria Suarez said council was developing its first Stormwater Management Strategy (SMS) and was now seeking community input, because everyone in the region has a role to play to manage stormwater effectively. “Stormwater management protects our waterways from pollutants and increased or concentrated water flow, uses rainwater and stormwater as a resource and manages stormwater flood risk for the wellbeing and resilience of our communities,” Cr Suarez said.

Date Time Police hold concerns for welfare of Barkly region 13 April Northern Territory Police hold concerns for the welfare of a Queensland man who has been reported as missing in the Barkly area since late last month. Adrian De Jong, 50 was last seen as he checked out of a caravan park in Tennant Creek around 10am on Monday 22 March and advised staff he was driving to Ti Tree for work. Local police were alerted the following day that Mr De Jong did not arrive in Ti Tree and immediately begun making inquiries with Queensland police and nearby remote communities, to locate him. To-date efforts to locate Mr De Jong have been unsuccessful and police now seek public assistance.
