At-Home Fitness Company Tonal to Open Shops Within 40 Nordstrom Stores

The department store chain announced Monday that it will be adding 40 mini Tonal shops to its stores, with the rollout beginning this month. The 50-square-foot shops will be located in Nordstrom s active department next to workout apparel and other fitness accessories. Customers will be able to demo the Tonal device and speak with a Tonal employee. For Tonal, the partnership will expand the fitness equipment maker s reach to new customers at a time when many Americans have been investing in high-tech devices to enhance their at-home workouts during the pandemic. The company has just 16 brick-and-mortar locations six of its own stores and 10 shop in shops with other business partners.

Photo: Sarahbeth Maney, Special to The Chronicle The projectors are ready to roll and the big screens in the Bay Area are about to light up once again, according to Cinemark, which announced Wednesday, Feb. 24, that several of its Century movie venues would be among the first indoor theaters in the area to welcome back filmgoers this month. The decision comes after Marin and San Mateo counties advanced this week to the second-most-restrictive category of California’s reopening blueprint, from purple to red. Cinemark didn’t waste any time Century’s Redwood Downtown 20, Century at Tanforan in San Bruno and Century Northgate in San Rafael would reopen at 25% capacity on Friday, Feb. 26, according to the Texas-based movie theater chain.
