Easton Area School District Superintendent David Piperato outlined the plan during his report Tuesday at the school board meeting. You can watch the meeting on YouTube. Piperato said the City of Easton will pay a matching grant of $48,000 in order to go after $325,000 in funding. The park is on school district property next to Cottingham Stadium but it won’t cost the school district anything to improve the park, Piperato said.

Limitations on crowd size means the entire 300-member marching band has yet to perform anywhere as a complete unit. They went on the road for every football game since Cottingham Stadium is being rebuilt, and most stadiums would allow only a fraction of the complete membership. They performed concerts “virtually,” meaning portions of the band performed separately and the whole unit was spliced together for online consumption.

The Easton Area School District is selling naming rights for the scoreboard, home press box, two concession stands and three ticket booths. “It’s a continuing effort to raise money,” said school district Chief Operating Officer Mike Simonetta. The 100-year-old stadium was demolished to make way for a $13.3 million replacement that is scheduled to open for this year’s Red Rovers football season.
