KANSAS CITY, Mo. â One person was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday near East 40th Street and South Benton Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.
Officers were in the area about 5:50 p.m. when they heard gunshots, police said.
The officers saw the shooting victim fall.
A vehicle sped north on Benton Boulevard from the shooting scene, police said.
The victim was transferred to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Police in Kansas City, Kansas, are investigating a man was killed Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers were sent to the 4100 block of Sortor Drive.
They located the man, described as an adult, dead of an apparent homicide.
Police are asking for the publicâs help in their investigation into the manâs death, which is the cityâs 10th homicide of 2021.
