Kansas City police investigating Wednesday homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating the city s latest homicide.
Officers were dispatched to the area of East 37th Street and Gillham Road at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said there were reports of people arguing and then gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found an adult woman inside of an apartment with gunshot wounds.
The victim died at the scene.
A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.

HRC Mourns Serenity Hollis, Black Transgender Woman Killed in Albany, Georgia
HRC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Serenity Hollis, a 24-year-old Black transgender woman who was shot and killed in Albany, Georgia, on May 8, 2021. Serenity’s death is at least the 25th violent death of a transgender or gender non-conforming person in 2021. We say “at least” because too often these deaths go unreported or misreported.
According to social media, Serenity was from Orlando, Florida, and moved to Albany, Georgia, in 2019. Serenity’s mother Robyn Osberry said that “the person that’s responsible has no idea what they took from us.I absolutely want to see that justice is served.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â One person is dead and another in custody following an apparent homicide in Raytown.
Raytown police were called out to the 6800 block of Hawthorne at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday on a shots fired call.
When officers arrived, they found a man shot dead in a vehicle.
Another adult was taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The U.S. Marshals Service from the District of Kansas is looking for a man who escaped from a hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Bruce Jenson, 44, was released from the Bureau of Prisons in Leavenworth on Wednesday and taken to the Grossman Center Half-Way House.
The same day he was taken to a St. John s hospital for a mental health issue, where he escaped.
Jenson was last seen wearing white pants and white shirt.
He s 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has a shaved head.
According to the U.S. Marshals, Jenson has violent tendencies and people should not attempt to apprehend him.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is looking for a man who exposed himself to women near the Brookside and Waldo areas.
According to KCPD Sgt. Jake Becchina, the incidents happened on Tuesday morning.
The first incident happened just after 7 a.m. near West 57th Street and Summit Street. The second time it happened at 7:40 a.m. near West 70th Street and Brookside Road.
