People camping at the Geri Fields lower parking lot in Bellingham will have until Tuesday to pack up their things and leave, as the city will begin cleanup and repairs at the park area.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood has set a deadline for removal of the homeless tent camp at Civic Athletic complex.
The campers have been given one week notice to leave before the city public works department starts to move tents and belongings next Tuesday, March 16th.
Homeless persons staying at Geri Fields will be offered services near the camp on three consecutive mornings this week.
Fleetwood told the city council Monday the camp was never approved and authorized, presents serious public safety hazards, and will not continue.
On Monday, a wooden structure caught fire at the camp.

Construction is underway in the 300-block of Main Street on what will become the new home of the Point Pleasant River Museum and Lakin Cook Learning Center. Construction is being done by contractor Persigner & Associates of Charleston which bid $1.8 million on the project. (Beth Sergent | OVP)
