BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood has set a deadline for removal of the homeless tent camp at Civic Athletic complex.
The campers have been given one week notice to leave before the city public works department starts to move tents and belongings next Tuesday, March 16th.
Homeless persons staying at Geri Fields will be offered services near the camp on three consecutive mornings this week.
Fleetwood told the city council Monday the camp was never approved and authorized, presents serious public safety hazards, and will not continue.
On Monday, a wooden structure caught fire at the camp.
