Waterbury Fire Department, Vermont State Police respond to Duxbury blaze

Waterbury Fire Department, Vermont State Police respond to Duxbury blaze Residents of Pine Street in Duxbury responded to a large blaze in the woods on the north side of the road by calling the Waterbury Fire Department around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 25. The blaze led to the fire department calling Vermont State Police to manage a truculent logger whose identity police have not released. Pine Street didn’t know that the fire was the result of logging activities. Waterbury Fire Department chief Gary Dillon responded to the scene along with about a dozen volunteers from the fire department and determined that the blaze was part of a logging operation organized by the owners of the Grunberg Haus.

Fire Destroys Historic Small-Town Country Church in Vermont – NECN

“We could feel the heat inside the house standing in front of the window,” Lombard recalled. NECN The heat even melted the siding of a property next door. The church had stood for more than a century, according to longtime residents of the community who stopped by Church Street, the scene of the fire, on Wednesday. “It was a fight that was not going to turn out well,” said Chief Gary Dillon of the Waterbury Fire Department. The age of the church was just one challenge facing firefighters who raced to Middlesex from neighboring communities, bringing in their own water.
