A contractor for Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association was admitted to The Memorial Hospital in Craig Tuesday after what company officials are calling an “incident,” but there were no disruptions to power as a result.
Mark Stutz, spokesman for Tri-State, would not release details but said the contractor was transported to the hospital after the incident.
The incident does not affect power generation at the plant. The plant as of Wednesday evening had one unit in a planning outage and two units operating. The plant has resources at Craig’s other two units and elsewhere to serve the 42 members in four states.

Utilities in wide swaths of the heartland struggling with electricity shortages and in some cases, outages, after several days of abnormally cold temperatures, urged customers to curtail power usage where they can.
Texas has suffered widespread outages and the Southwest Power Pool, which manages the power grid across the Plains states, saw demand outstrip supply for the first time ever, forcing it to order rolling blackouts Monday morning. Colorado has largely been spared, although some customers in the northeast corner of the state fell under the SPP order.
Westminster-based Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association said seven of its member utilities, located primarily in Nebraska, fell under the SPP order. One megawatt of power was cut for under one hour in Wyoming, said spokesman Mark Stutz.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Fresh, locally produced vegetables will soon sprout from hydroponic beds in an enclosed, converted shipping container parked at New Mexico State University’s branch campus in Grants.
The 40-foot “Farm in a Box” will provide hands-on education and workforce training for local students and others interested in studying the emerging science of “indoor agriculture” as a new, potentially sustainable, enterprise that could offer fresh economic development opportunities and job creation in an area hard hit by the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
