That brings us really to a startling yearly 100,000 cases statewide. 97,095 total cases. Today, we have an additional 28 deaths. That brings our total to 1568 total deaths statewide. This is really the grimmest part of these updates for everyone on the state of new mexico team and i know for all new mexicans, i gave personal condolences to some families who shared their information with me this morning in this incredibly painful, of course, these are unnecessary deaths and we all must do better. The earlier you start and the more aggressively you start, the better control and management efforts you have. This is the problem, because you cant see the pandemic, everyone falsely assumes it wont come here. It will be easier and we will wait until we see whats happening. But too many, its easier to explain, you have to move immediately. Otherwise, it rages out of control. We are seeing all across the count
Governor grisham we are working on a system that respects the instructions to stay at home. Its very clear about social distancing but we want to provide direct updates and today is an opportunity to do things a little bit differently. It will take a little longer. I really believe that the benefits of this kind of conversation with everyone in new mexico who has the opportunity to do now or later will be incredibly beneficial because in fact, we are all in this together. We will do a format that starts about where we are so you will get a case update from me. I want to talk about what we have done, kind of an accomplishment so you get a sense that things are happening all the time. And are still doing what to expect, what is the next several weeks or months and what to they look like and how do we know that .
