That compares to a 2.7% jobless rate in November 2019. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports total nonfarm employment in November decreased by 1,800 compared to last year. Employment gains were reported in Construction, up 25, with no change reported in Natural Resources and Mining, and Information. Payrolls declined in Manufacturing, down 625, Leisure and Hospitality, down 350, Educational and Health Services, down 275, Other Services, down 175, Professional and Business Services, down 150, Government, down 75, Trade, Transportation and Utilities, down 100, and Financial Activities, down 75.

Illinois State Police report the crash occurred at 9:45pm on the Ste. Marie Road, south of Jasper County Road 50. A car driven by 63-year-old Jeffrey Nicholas of Olney was southbound when the car drove off the roadway into the right ditch and ended traveling through the ditch before coming to a stop. Nicholas was taken to the hospital for treatment. Nicholas was cited for improper lane usage.

County Board Splits on Appointments to Ambulance Oversight Committee Published on December 21 2020 6:58 pm Last Updated on December 21 2020 6:58 pm Written by Greg Sapp The Effingham County Board appointed Mike DePoister and Debra Murbarger to new terms on the County s Ambulance Oversight Committee at Monday s meeting, but it was a split vote. Member John Perry was most vocal in his opposition, saying Status Zero calls are a problem, and have been for some time. Perry said he would have voted against whatever holdover board members had been up for reappointment. Member Rob Arnold, though, said COVID is the cause behind most of the Status Zero problems, as it has led to staffing problems and more calls. Arnold said, COVID is the 900-pound gorilla in the room.
