Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed on Monday called for the immediate cancellation of the ongoing membership registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kwara state ‘saying that, the exercise was marred by fraud and irregularities across the 16 local government councils of the state.
The APC leader however called on the national Secretariat of the party to instead, put in place a process that will ensure the conduct of a credible and fair exercise that will enjoy the support and confidence of all.
Speaking at a press conference in his home
town, Oro in Irepodun local government council area of the state shortly after revalidating his membership of the party., Alhaji Muhammad also called for the “immediate disbandment of the Senator John Danboyi-led membership registration committee for the state as vast majority of the APC stakeholders in the state have lost confidence in the committee.”.

The governor said the members had hatched their plots in Abuja to frustrate the membership registration exercise of the party in the state through “needless litigations.”

At a meeting with party leaders loyal to him on Saturday, Mr AbdulRazaq said the party would take a decisive action against the ‘dissidents’ in the party.
The governor said the members had hatched their plots in Abuja to frustrate the membership registration exercise of the party in the state through “needless litigations.”
“It has come to our notice that some people were hatching a series of plots from Abuja to stop APC membership registration.

Stakeholders meeting, convened by the APC membership registration and revalidation committee sent from the national headquarters of the party to keep party members abreast of the exercise in Kwara State ended abruptly, in Ilorin, on Wednesday afternoon.
Tribune Online gathered that the screening process for the event was already going on at the State Banquet Hall, located opposite Government House, Ilorin, when the reportedly removed chairman of the party, Hon Bashir Bolarinwa, stormed the venue ultimately to gain entry.
It was gathered that pandemomiun broke out as the embattled party leader and his supporters met stiff resistance from personnel conducting the exercise and some supporters of the new chairman of the party’s state caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari.

The All Progressives Congress Caretaker/ Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (APC CECPC) met with aggrieved camps in the Kwara State chapter of the party on Monday.
Kwara State governor, Abdul Rahman Abdulrasaq, led his supporters to the party national secretariat.
Also in attendance were his Niger State counterpart, Sani Bello and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, who led the aggrieved chieftains to the peace meeting.
Minister of State, Transportation, Senator Gbemi Saraki was not at the peace meeting.
The Kwara State chapter of the party has been polarised into factions following the removal of the erstwhile acting chairman, Honourable Bashir Bolarinwa by the APC North Central zonal executive. Bolarinwa had since been replaced with his former deputy, Honourable Samari Abdulllahi.
