ABUJA: The simmering crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Kwara state boiled over within the week when the opposing camps shifted the battleground to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
One of the camps is led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, while the other is jointly led by Information and Culture minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Minister of State, Transport, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki.
At a point, it would appear that the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak was losing out as the Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC on December 11, 2020 inaugurated Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, an ally of the two ministers as the Caretaker state Chairman of the party.

Gbemi Saraki rejected the verdict of the national leadership of the party sacking Bashir Bolarinwa as state Chairman of the party.

The recent dissolution of party executives at all levels by the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC) had signified a death knell to one of the two warring factions in Kwara state until the announcement came shortly after that the executives should act as Caretaker Committee.
It was therefore the peace of the graveyard in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of harmony.
Saturday Vanguard reliably gathered that the seemingly irreconcilable political differences that pitched the two warring factions of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed against each other happened during the political horse trading before the primaries where Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq emerged as the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer.

The annual National Council on Agriculture is normally convened in the first quarter or at the most in April when the farmers are preparing to embark on working the land but certainly not in December when they are harvesting and marketing their produce.

Two serving ministers from Kwara State; Lai Mohammed and Gbemisola Saraki and other stakeholders in All Progressives Congress (APC) have moved against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s efforts to stop Hon Bashir Bolarinwa from being recognised as the Chairman of the state caretaker committee, describing the actions as illegal, illogical and unacceptable.
Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, a Chieftain of the party addressed the press conference evening in Ilorin flanked by the representatives of Minister of State for Transportation Senator Gbemisola Saraki, the state legal adviser of the party, Barrister Oladimeji Mustapha, that of Alhaji Lai Mohammed Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Ayo Obisesan.
