Poet, educationist Prof Qazi Jamil dies

HARIPUR: Renowned poet, journalist and educationist Prof Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman died here Friday night.
He was 71 and left behind a widow and three sons. Qazi Jamil was admitted to Corona Ward of Haripur DHQ Hospital about two weeks ago when his condition worsened and he tested Corona-positive. He remained on ventilator for more than a week but could not survive and breathed his last Friday night and Dr Mehvish, in-charge Corona Ward, confirmed his cause of death as Corona-positive.
He was buried in his ancestral graveyard of Sera-e-Saleh on Saturday where poets, journalists, teachers, his former students and local people attended his funeral prayer.

He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Sera-i-Saleh on Saturday.
Qazi Jamil was paternal grandson of renowned Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind activist of Qazi Aziz ur Rehman, who launched weekly Urdu newspaper ‘Paigham-i-Sarhad’ from Haripur in late 30s. The weekly later was made a daily and kept on publishing till 1971 when Qazi Aziz passed away.

Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman has directed all police officials to ensure quality investigation into criminal cases and provide relief to people through resolving their matters.
He stated this while addressing the Station House Officers (SHOs) of and In-Charge Investigation deputed at each police station. DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar, SSP (Operations) Syed Mustafa Tanveer and SSP (Investigation) were also present on the occasion.
Islamabad police chief said that quality investigation and prevention of crime are among his top priorities and no compromise would be made on it. “We would have to work as a team and provide relief to people,” he said and directed to adopt a courteous attitude with complainants visiting police stations. Barriers hindering smooth traffic flow to be removed

Islamabad : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman on Wednesday directed to remove all barriers from the roads to ensure smooth traffic flow and reactivate traffic-citizen liaison committee.
According to details, the Islamabad police chief himself visited the main avenues of Islamabad including Expressway, Faisal Avenue, Kashmir Highway, Murree Road, Bhara Kau, 7th avenue and directed to ensure smooth traffic flow. He asked to remove barriers from the Faizabad Police check post hindering smooth traffic flow.
He assigned the task to SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed to reactivate the traffic-citizen liaison committee within 10 days which would point out traffic-related issues.
