Since even minute aspects of the environmental issues, evaluation of any adverse impact, concerns of the stake holders, suggestions of the locals etc in relation to setting up of mega projects like the one in Paddar Kishtwar – 1320 MW 2nd stage Kirthai Hydel Project, are to be taken care of by the Appraisal Committee Panel of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests. When the proposal for environmental clearance was sent to the Ministry, propagation of the fishes was feared to get vastly disturbed due to some changes in the river course while appraising the proposal in the year 2018. Certain points were raised which were to be clarified in order to get the environmental clearance. In other words, clearance per-se was deferred. JAMMU, May 5: In a major development, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recommended grant of Environmental Clearance to 1320 Mega Watt (MW) 2-Stage Kirthai Hydro Electric Project in Padder Tehsil of Kishtwar district with the direction to the Project Proponent (PP) Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation to ensure strict compliance to the conditions imposed by the panel.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that the proposals for grant of Environmental Clearance to 390 Mega Watt Stage-I Kirthai Hydro Electric Project and 930 Mega Watt Stage-II Kirthai Hydro Electric Project were earlier considered in the 16th meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee held on July 27, 2018.

New Delhi: It will be a farm where Kashmirâs famous saffron will be cultivated, but also double as a solar power project that is expected to generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity for the Valley.
Jammu & Kashmir is set to have Indiaâs first solar âagro-photovoltaicâ power project â where a solar project will be set up on a 250-acre area (just over 100 hectares) that will simultaneously be used to cultivate saffron, ThePrint has learnt.
