Purchase Your Ticket-NE Iowa Food Bank s Empty Bowls Fundraiser

This past year has been one like none other. As Iowans dealt with the repercussions of a once-a-century pandemic, which led to massive unemployment, this past fall and winter saw a record number of people seeking food assistance. The bad news, is fellow Iowan s that are food insecure is un-likely to improve, especially without everyone s support.  The Northeast Iowa Food Bank s biggest fundraiser of the year, Empty Bowls will take place entirely online this year. Their virtual event week is scheduled to run Friday, March 19th through the 26th.  According to a press release: attendees will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and bid on both silent and live auction items.

Community Briefs: Library book sales, art competition

Friends of Library book sales back online The Friends of the Los Altos Library launched a website in October and then had to temporarily shut it down for lack of access to the library. The site – folbookshelf.org – is now back online. For residents who miss the Friends of the Library’s quarterly book sales, which have been sidelined by the pandemic, the website offers the opportunity to replenish their bookshelves. Patrons can view pictures of the books for sale online, pay for them by credit card and then pick up them up, just as they do for library holds.
