2 injured in shooting at Fort Myers apartment complex

Fort Myers police responded to a shooting Monday night with two people injured at The Park At Positano Apartment Homes.
According to FMPD, police responded to reports of gunfire at the community after neighbors said they heard five loud gunshots. The complex is off Colonial Boulevard between Fowler Street and Metro Parkway.
Both individuals who suffered gunshot wounds made it to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment, but it’s not confirmed if they were transported or took themselves.
Another car police say was involved in the shooting was also seen parked outside the entrance to the hospital’s emergency room.

A major road construction project could change how long it takes you to get to work in Fort Myers. The Florida Department of Transportation is going to begin work on the “Diverging Diamond Interchange Project” starting at Colonial Boulevard and I-75.
On weekends, traffic on Colonial and further north on State Road 82 near MLK Boulevard is pretty calm and not too bad. But, during the week, traffic does not flow like that. And, a new construction project is beginning Monday.
Marcella Holloway drives through this area to get to work. “It’s hectic, especially in the morning there’s always like a bottleneck,” Holloway said.
Gunterberg Foundation donation paves way to move Vietnam Veterans monument to Cape

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be moved from Fort Myers to Eco Park in Cape Coral.
The spirit of giving during the holiday season was alive and well last Tuesday morning in Cape Coral at the newly opened Brotherhood of Heroes Resource Center and Museum.
Founder and long-time community philanthropist Dr. Carol Rae Culliton presented Gary Bowler, president of the Veterans Midpoint Memorial Charitable Trust Inc., with a $20,000 check on behalf of the Gunterberg Foundation to relocate the Vietnam Veterans monument, currently located just over the bridge in Fort Myers, to Cape Coral’s Eco Park Veterans Area.
2 children injured in crash at Colonial Blvd, Forum Blvd in Fort Myers

Fort Myers Police Department responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection with Colonial Boulevard and Forum Boulevard in Fort Myers Tuesday night.
According to FMPD, police went to the scene of the crash with a pickup truck and a car, where two children were considered trauma alerts and taken to the hospital to treat injuries.
The status of the drivers and anyone else involved in the crash were not confirmed the night of the crash
The roadway was cleared, and the crash remains under investigation.
