Vehicle shot at condo complex in Fort Myers, no injuries

Fort Myers Police Department responded to a a shooting where a vehicle was damaged at Renaissance Condos in Fort Myers Wednesday night.
Police had multiple cruisers at the complex on Winkler Avenue near Metro Parkway, where police say a vehicle was shot, and an individual was uncooperative and did not want to pursue charges.
A vehicle was found with damaged by gunshots.
No one was hurt in the shooting.
There is no description of the suspect vehicle or possible suspects at this time.
Fort Myers to assign more officers to city high schools

Fort Myers Police Department will continue its school resource officer program in city schools, Chief Derrick Diggs confirmed at a special meeting Monday.
Chief Diggs was passionate while he spoke alongside Fort Myers City Council. He wanted to make sure his message was clear: He wants his SROs in Fort Myers schools, even wanting to expand the program.
Diggs said the meeting started with a rumor that he was pulling them out, but that’s not the case.
Mayor Kevin Anderson also agrees SROs are essential to school safety, speaking from his own experience.
Pedestrian killed in crash on US-41, north of Winkler Ave, in Fort Myers

According to the FMPD tweet, police were care on US-41 investigating the crash.
The roadway remained completely shut down from Winkler Avenue to Hill Avenue as of 11 p.m.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

Thousands of protesters spread out across Southwest Florida in solidarity with Cuban citizens Tuesday from Port Charlotte to Naples. Protesters also gathered in Cape Coral, North Fort Myers, Fort Myers and Clewiston.
Major roads were blocked off for several hours Tuesday night as protesters walked the streets in the downtown areas of Fort Myers and Naples.
People were also protesting all day in Miami on Tuesday into the night on the Palmetto Expressway. The protests shut down part of the highway and backed up traffic for hours.
