Police had multiple cruisers at the complex on Winkler Avenue near Metro Parkway, where police say a vehicle was shot, and an individual was uncooperative and did not want to pursue charges. A vehicle was found with damaged by gunshots. No one was hurt in the shooting. There is no description of the suspect vehicle or possible suspects at this time.

Chief Diggs was passionate while he spoke alongside Fort Myers City Council. He wanted to make sure his message was clear: He wants his SROs in Fort Myers schools, even wanting to expand the program. Diggs said the meeting started with a rumor that he was pulling them out, but that’s not the case. Mayor Kevin Anderson also agrees SROs are essential to school safety, speaking from his own experience.

Protesters also gathered in Cape Coral, North Fort Myers, Fort Myers and Clewiston. Major roads were blocked off for several hours Tuesday night as protesters walked the streets in the downtown areas of Fort Myers and Naples. People were also protesting all day in Miami on Tuesday into the night on the Palmetto Expressway. The protests shut down part of the highway and backed up traffic for hours.
