Appleton formalizes process to fill volunteer positions on commissions

View Comments Question: I saw on Facebook that Appleton is seeking applicants for the Board of Health, Library Board, Historic Preservation Commission and Climate Change Task Force. Are any of these paid positions? Answer: None of the above appointments is a paid position. They are opportunities for Appleton residents to volunteer their service to the city. Mayor Jake Woodford said residents get involved for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they re passionate about a specific issue, he said. Sometimes they re interested in having a part to play in the work of municipal government. Overall, I think it s driven by a desire to give back to the community.
