Remembering National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Jan. 9 was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. If you have a police officer as a friend or family member, this week is the perfect time to let them you know that you appreciate how difficult their job is. National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was created in 2015 as a way for people to express their gratitude for officers in the United States. There are nearly a million police officers in our country, and they deserve our thanks for putting themselves at risk for us every day. Locally, of course, we are extremely proud of the Carlsbad Police Department. Thanks to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Department, the District Attorney’s Office, New Mexico State Police, and many other organizations who work together every single day to keep us safe. We also are thankful for the organizations such as COPS who find ways to support our police officers throughout the year.
