Track & Field Set to Travel to Knoxville for Tennessee Relays
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track and field program will compete at the 53rd Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., from April 9-10. The meet will be broadcast on both Friday and Saturday via SEC Network+. Those unable to tune in to the broadcast can follow along via live results throughout the weekend.
“The Tennessee Relays are a historic meet that has been around for a long time, and I am happy it’s back and that we get the opportunity to go up there and keep improving,” said Clemson’s Director of Track and Field, Mark Elliott. “This meet is building off of the Florida Relays and is a continuation of the competition and training we’ve already done this season. Each week we get an opportunity to see where we are and we put our athletes in the events that we know we need to get them a mark in or more experience with.”
CLEMSON, S.C. – Day two of the 2021 ACC Indoor Track & Field Champions saw the Clemson track and field program perform in a historic manner, as three men recorded top-10 all-time marks and seven athletes earned personal bests. Seven athletes advanced to the final of their respective event this evening, joining the four advancing finalists from Thursday’s competition.
“Days like today make you feel good,” said Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field. “It shows you that between the coaches and athletes, with the way the year has gone, [our athletes] are resilient and that whatever happens performance-wise, they can compete. Those [athletes] are the special ones, and we have a few of them on our team.”
ACC Championships Preview: Jumps

The high-flying jumpers of Clemson track and field are ready to soar into the 2021 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships after putting together a season of consistency and success throughout the regular season.
Anthony Hamilton will take to the men’s high jump with lofty expectations after securing two victories in the event, along with three additional top-5 finishes, throughout the 2021 campaign. Hamilton has consistently cleared 2.10 meters (6 feet, ten and three-quarter inches) this season and will enter Thursday’s competition with sizable momentum after logging two quality weeks of training with assistant coach Chris Bostwick.
CLEMSON, S.C. – Laurie Barton and Trishauna Hemmings proved once again on Saturday why they are two of the nation’s best athletes, as each recorded top-5 all-time marks at Clemson during the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational. Barton who entered the day already the No. 4 performer at Clemson in the women’s 800 meters ran 2:03.91 to set a new personal best since transferring to Clemson. Hemmings ran the 200m for the first time in her career and became the No. 5 performer on Clemson’s all-time list after crossing the line in 23.28. Hemmings’s time produced a third overall standing on Saturday and placed her within the top 10 nationally.
CLEMSON, S.C. - On his third attempt during the men’s shot put competition, Roje Stona threw his name into the Tigers’ top 5 all-time list thanks to his toss of 17.94 meters (58 feet, 10 and one-quarter inches). Entering the weekend, Stona touted a personal best of 17.56m previously the No. 6 mark on the Tigers’ all-time list set at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships. Stona’s performance on Friday now places the sophomore discus specialist ahead of teammate Zico Campbell by one centimeter. “Talking to coach [Shawn] Cobey, we knew that he was ready to hit one in what is his second event,” said Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field. “Two weeks out from ACC’s, we know that he [Roje] is going to be ready to compete, and Zico [Campbell] will be right there with him.” Trishauna Hemmings showed that she is rounding into championship form in the 60-meter hurdles after contributing a pair of top-class performances Friday afternoon.
