Police have revealed how a complex firearms investigation led to the arrest and conviction of two dangerous criminals in southwest London. Bekki Dean, 27, of Woburn Road, Carshalton and homeless Bradley Clancy, 39, were sentenced to five and 12 years imprisonment for their roles in the scheme. They were convicted on Friday, September 11 last year following a trial at Croydon Crown Court. Dean was found guilty of conspiracy to transfer a firearm, and possession of a firearm and ammunition. Clancy was found guilty of possession of ammunition and a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was also found guilty of conspiracy to transfer a firearm.
Mounted police took part in the operation in Ilford town centre.

Seven weapons and seven vehicles were seized by police in an operation targeting violence and robbery in Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham last week.
Thirteen people were arrested.
The Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) led a two-day operation focusing on Ilford town centre, Ilford Lane, Valentines Park and Barking on Thursday and Friday, February 4 and 5.
Officers were proactively looking for high harm offenders, conducting weapon sweeps and engaging with the community.
The VSUs were supported by other teams across the Met including the RPTC Road Crime Team, Firearms Command – Trojan Proactive Unit, Dog Section, Mounted Branch, RPTC Tasking Team, British Transport Police and Safer Neighbourhood officers. The Multi-Agency Tasking (MAT) Team, a proactive unit based around Ilford Town Centre, took part and worked with London Borough of Redbridge Enforcement Officers and other council departme

A man has been jailed for knife and drug offences following an investigation by the Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce (VCTF).
Malakai Sanford, 22, (22.06.98), of Brockham Crescent, Croydon, appeared at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, 29 January, where he pleaded guilty to: possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply heroin, being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs (heroin) and possession of cannabis.
He was sentenced to three-and-a-half years’ imprisonment.
The court heard how on 29 May 2020, officers from the VCTF were proactively patrolling in the New Addington area of Croydon, when they spotted a group of three males who were known to be involved in violence and gang activity in the area, and so approached them in an effort to engage with them.
