RAJKOT: Acting on a tip off, Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), Rajkot city, arrested a quack doctor who was operating a clinic for the last few years. The 37-year-old Vimal Sitapara, a resident of Shreenathiji society in Mavdi, was arrested on Wednesday for practising as a doctor without medical degree.
Sitapara has been running his clinic in Kotharia area for past four years. Earlier, he has worked as compounder at Madhuram hospital in the city. Police seized medicines, medical instruments, and Rs 22,756 in cash from his clinic and booked him under the Medical Practitioners act.

Three of the accused in police custody
Rajkot: Acting on a kidnapping and extortion complaint lodged by a farmer of Faddang village, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Rajkot city police on Wednesday arrested four persons, including a minor boy.
Those arrested were identified as Shivraj Vala (19), Gaurava Hirani (21), Lalji Rank (21), and a minor boy. Hirani and Rank are residents of Bagasara town of Amreli while Vala is a native of Faddang village and lives in Surat.
“On July 3, Vala and his associates kidnapped Khunt from his village and demanded Rs 15 lakh while threatening to kill him. Scared by the revolver that was pointed towards him, Kunth paid Rs 3.85 lakh to the accused. Later, he approached the police and lodged a complaint,” police said.
Gangster Lalu Jhalim alias Amit Rajput
Surat: Gangster Lalu Jhalim alias Amit Rajput wanted in a case registered under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act (GujCTOC) was arrested along with his associate Nikunj Chauhan on Monday. Both were remanded to police custody for 15 days by a local court on Tuesday.
Rajput was nabbed from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh by a team of Detection of Crime Branch (DCB). He had been evading arrest since December 2020. Native of Mahendru village in Jaunpur of UP, Rajput had escaped a few days before the offence under GujCTOC was registered against him. “It was a challenging task to nab Rajput whose family is politically well connected,” said police.

The vehicles seized by DCB team from Jiyad’s garage
Rajkot: Acting on a tip off, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Rajkot city police carried out a raid on a garage on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night and seized three stolen SUVs. Cops also arrested Rahul Jiyad, 26, a resident of Kotha Pipaliya village in Lodhika taluka of Rajkot district, owner of the garage located at New Ring Road in Rajkot.
The SUVs, stolen from other states, were brought to Rajkot for sale. “A Scorpio, Innova and Brezza were seized from Jiyad’s possession and a probe has been launched. During the questioning, Jiyad told police that he had brought the SUVs from a facebook dealer whom he had never met. Few customers made inquiries about the SUVs but due to Covid-19 situation none was sold,” a DCB official said.
