Agencies spanning across Columbiana and Mahoning counties, helped the Leetonia Schools celebrate the end of the year with a festival Friday. Some 28 agencies offered services at no cost to those who attended. Ryan O’Donnell, family to school liaison, said he wants to show that Leetonia and the community care about families. O’Donnell said the event was a team effort from the Columbiana County ESC, Superintendent Dennis J. Dunham, school guidance counselors, the principal and other staff. The abrupt retirement announcement Thursday of Boston Police Commissioner William Gross unleashed a torrent of speculation that upended Boston politics, which is quickly shifting amid the imminent departure of Mayor Martin J. Walsh.
Gross, the cityâs first Black police commissioner, addressed the most pressing rumor himself. No, Gross said, he would not be running for mayor. But even with Grossâ declaration, questions persist.
Why now? Whatâs next? Would he endorse a candidate or play some other political role?

The Pickaway-Ross Board of Education voted tonight to hire Jonathan Davis as superintendent of the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School District.
Davis has served as superintendent of Circleville City Schools since 2016.
Previously he was the district’s assistant superintendent for three years and assistant principal at Circleville High School from 2011-2013. He started in education as a social studies teacher at Pickaway-Ross in 2004.
“We had many quality applicants and Mr. Davis was our unanimous choice,” board President Byron Lloyd said. “We are confident that his leadership skills will benefit Pickaway-Ross.” Davis said he is humbled by and grateful to the board for its faith and confidence and he looks forward to returning to Pickaway-Ross.
