Chillicothe School Board Seeks New Member Following Death of Joy Shoemaker

Jan 12, 2021 The Chillicothe City Schools Board of Education is mourning the loss of a Board Member. Joy Colleen Shoemaker, who served on the board for more than seven years, passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 83. Mrs. Shoemaker started her career in education as an aide at Unioto Elementary in Ross County, where she remained for about four years. She then went on to work as an elementary school secretary for the Waverly Local Schools where she spent 43 years. Following retirement, Mrs. Shoemaker then ran for and successfully gained a seat on the Chillicothe City Schools Board of Education. She also served for two years as a member of Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School District.

Davis Named New Superintendent at Pickaway/Ross JVS | The 90s to Now

By Newsroom Dec 18, 2020 The Pickaway-Ross Board of Education voted tonight to hire Jonathan Davis as superintendent of the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School District. Davis has served as superintendent of Circleville City Schools since 2016. Previously he was the district’s assistant superintendent for three years and assistant principal at Circleville High School from 2011-2013. He started in education as a social studies teacher at Pickaway-Ross in 2004. “We had many quality applicants and Mr. Davis was our unanimous choice,” board President Byron Lloyd said. “We are confident that his leadership skills will benefit Pickaway-Ross.” Davis said he is humbled by and grateful to the board for its faith and confidence and he looks forward to returning to Pickaway-Ross.
