A 22-year-old man was arrested from northeast Delhi s Khajuri Khas area after he called the Police Control Room (PCR) and allegedly threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said on Friday. The accused, who has been identified as Salman alias Arman, told police that he made the call as he wanted to go to jail. He is addicted to drugs and was sent to a juvenile correction home in 2018 in a murder case, they said. The accused called the PCR on 112 around Thursday midnight and threatened to kill PM Modi, the police said. The number from which the call was received was immediately traced and shared with the district police unit, which then located him to Khajuri Khas, a senior police officer said.
According to preliminary investigation, the accused was under the influence of drugs at the time of making the call. He was scolded by his father around 10pm.

Delhi: Man dials police threatening to kill PM, arrested
Delhi Police has arrested a man for making a call to police wherein he threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to police, the arrested man has been identified as Salman (22).
He made a call to the police last night and said, I want to kill Modi , prompting the police department to launch an investigation.
The man was arrested from Khajuri Khas area of the national capital. During interrogation, Salman confessed that he had made a call to police, threatening to kill the Prime Minister.
Salman also told police that he has been a drug addict but couldn t find it easily. Therefore, he plotted to return to jail where drugs are easily available. According to police, Salman has several cases against him and was out of bail.
Umar Khalid Recovers from COVID-19 in Tihar Jail
Umar Khalid, who was arrested last year for his alleged role in the northeast Delhi riots, has recovered from COVID-19, and has been returned to his cell.

New Delhi: Former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid, who was arrested in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots, has recovered from COVID-19 in Tihar jail and returned to his cell, officials said on Thursday.
A senior official said Khalid, 33, was isolated within the Tihar jail premises after he showed symptoms of COVID-19.
His RT-PCR test report came back positive on April 24.
