New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted bail to former JNU scholar Umar Khalid in a northeast Delhi riots case connected with an FIR lodged over the violence at the Khajuri Khas area.
LiveLaw has tweeted Judge Vinod Yadav as having noted that, “The applicant cannot be made to incarcerate in jail for infinity merely on account of the fact that other persons who were part of the riotous mob have to be identified and arrested in the matter.”

A Delhi Court on Thursday granted bail to Umar Khalid in connection with a Delhi Riots case concerning Khajuri Khas FIR (FIR no.101/2020) after observing that he cannot be permitted to remain behind bars on the basis of sketchy material against him.

Activist and former student leader Omar Khalid was granted bail by a Delhi court in a case related to the Delhi riots last year. Kovid has asked the court to install Arogya Setu on his phone before leaving the jail to air the cases.
The former JNU student was arrested in October. There were clashes in Northeast Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in connection with the violence in Khajuri Khas.
Omar Khalid said, “One cannot be imprisoned in prison for infinity only because those who were part of the mob must be identified and arrested in the case”, the court said.

A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to former JNU student leader Umar Khalid in connection with a Delhi riots case arising out of an FIR filed at the Khajuri Khas police station.
Umar Khalid is among hundreds of people booked in connection with the riots that ravaged Northeast Delhi last year in February. Apart from the case arising out of the Khajuri Khas FIR, he is also booked under
