News: Washington Concert Opera Announces 35th Anniversary Season

WCO will mark the milestone with a return to live performances Washington, DC (July 7, 2021) – Washington Concert Opera (WCO) and Maestro Antony Walker are proud to announce their 2021-2022 season. This year marks the organization’s 35th anniversary and WCO is excited to celebrate that milestone with a return to live season productions (venue TBA) and with the return of their popular series, Opera Outside, which will bring two free concerts to Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park.  WCO will kick off the season on Sunday, November 21 at 6 p.m. with a performance of Gioachino Rossini’s Maometto II. The opera is set during a time of consequential collisions between the Eastern and Western worlds that led to seismic shifts in world power felt to this day, complete with a city under siege, a forbidden romance and concealed identities. Ashraf Sewailam (Maometto II), Leah Crocetto (Anna Erisso), Bruce Sledge (Paolo Erisso) and Elizabeth DeShong (Calbo) will all make their WCO debuts. 

News: Baltimore Concert Opera is BACK! 2021-2022 Season Announcement

BCO will produce a fully-staged “Barber of Seville” with an orchestra!  Baltimore Concert Opera is proud to share that not only will it be making its return to its home stage at the Engineers Club this fall but it will also be making a BOLD LEAP FORWARD with a major addition to programming. For the first time, BCO will produce a fully staged opera with an orchestra – Rossini’s iconic Barber of Seville.  Returning subscribers will be offered the opportunity to renew on August 2nd and single tickets will go on sale on August 16th. BCO will continue to produce its concert operas and Thirsty Thursdays at the Opera series at the Engineers Club. The company has long been planning this expansion and is ready to take on the responsibility to serve the community on a larger scale. While BCO will branch out to Stephens Hall at Towson University for its full production, the company remains committed to Baltimore City and its vision to Build Community through Opera.
