Bagley supports the medical marijuana expansion but said he won t vote for full legalization, a signal some of the Republicans that supported Magee s bill aren t ready for legalization.
John Davis of Wellcana Group, one of the state s two authorized cannabis growers as a partner with the LSU AgCenter, said the current medical products are costly because they require expensive equipment to process them.
Magee s companion bill (HB 514) that would apply state sales taxes to the raw marijuana product, or flower, has already passed the full House with 70 votes.

Judge Jennifer Forbes told Christopher Malik Longmire, 25, the 152-month maxim sentence was “not enough.”
“I’ve come to the conclusion that our society needs to be protected from you as long as the law will allow,” Forbes said.
Kitsap County sheriff’s detectives started unraveling the scheme in January 2017 after authorities in California traced the extortion threats back to Kitsap County.
