Saying she would sentence him longer if she could, a Kitsap County Superior Court judge gave a sex offender 12 ½ years in prison for an online extortion scheme targeting gay men in which he assumed the identity of a prior victim.
Judge Jennifer Forbes told Christopher Malik Longmire, 25, the 152-month maxim sentence was “not enough.”
“I’ve come to the conclusion that our society needs to be protected from you as long as the law will allow,” Forbes said.
Kitsap County sheriff’s detectives started unraveling the scheme in January 2017 after authorities in California traced the extortion threats back to Kitsap County.
Injuries sustained by a woman who was stabbed Tuesday were so severe authorities were afraid she would not survive being flown to a Seattle hospital so she went into surgery at St. Michael Medical Center and was given a “50/50” chance of survival.
The man accused of stabbing the woman, Joshua Morgan Taylor, 41, was charged Wednesday in Kitsap County Superior Court with attempted second-degree murder. Taylor is a resident of the Village Fair Apartments. The stabbing was reported at 2:52 p.m. in the complex’s leasing office, where the victim worked.
As Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies entered Taylor s apartment at the complex he showed up at the hospital in Silverdale for a “behavioral health concern,” a detective wrote in court documents.
