A Great Falls man convicted of raping a 15-year-old at a house party in 2017 will receive a new sentencing hearing, according to documents from the Montana Supreme Court.
Autree Aniel Pedersen, 24, was at a house party when he and a juvenile held down a teen girl and took turns raping her. He was convicted on Aug. 15, 2019.
Three months later, former Cascade County District Judge Greg Pinski sentenced him to the maximum of 100 years with no time suspended. He also stipulated that Pedersen would not be eligible for parole for 25 years or until he completes phases 1 and 2 of sex offender treatment, whichever was longer.

Washington – Federal authorities investigating Rudy Giuliani are seeking information related to a former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine who was ousted from her job two years ago on orders of then-President Donald Trump, a lawyer for Giuliani said Friday.
Robert Costello confirmed via text message that a search warrant served this week on Giuliani made reference to Marie Yovanovitch, who as a central player in the first impeachment case against Trump detailed a smear campaign by Giuliani and other Trump allies that preceded her 2019 removal from the job. Costello said the warrant also referenced Ukraine’s former top prosecutor Yuri Lutsenko, who met with Giuliani and was also part of efforts to remove Yovanovitch from her position.

The ban includes the areas between 100 miles and 125 miles directly south of the coast of Escambia County on the western end of Florida.

New Delhi India set another global record in new virus cases Thursday, as millions of people in one state cast votes despite rising infections and the country geared up to open its vaccination rollout to all adults amid snags.
With 379,257 new infections, India now has reported more than 18.3 million cases, second only to the United States. The Health Ministry also reported 3,645 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 204,832. Experts believe both figures are an undercount, but it’s unclear by how much.
One week after the Alexandria City Council passed an amended budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year, Mayor Jeff Hall on Tuesday vetoed it, saying it violated the city charter.
That means some projects and raises for employees, police officers and firefighters will be delayed. The city s fiscal year begins on May 1.
In a release, Hall said he wouldn t be bullied into undermining the foundation of our community.
At its April 20 meeting, the council approved by a 4-3 vote an amendment from District 4 Councilwoman Catherine Davidson to move a budget surplus from the police department from the old fiscal year into the new budget.
