The lowest bid for Harrison’s 2021 road paving project came in about 12% less than township officials expected the project to cost.
With a price of a little more than $377,000, Tresco Paving was the lowest of 11 bidders for the work to mill and resurface 15 roads in the township.
“This is a pretty good bid,” township Manager Rich Hill said during a commissioners meeting Monday.
Eight of the other 10 bids were more than $400,000. The highest bid of about $473,000 was about 25% more than Tresco’s cost.
Harrison is seeking bids from contractors interested in milling and resurfacing 15 roads in the township.
The township estimates that its 2021 road program will cost about $430,000. Sealed bids are due by 4 p.m. April 22.
The most expensive work is expected to be on Federal Street, at about $72,000. The township is requiring that milling and paving on Federal Street must be done on a Saturday.
Milling and resurfacing all of Pennsylvania Avenue is expected to cost almost $60,000.
Other roads included in the program, with the estimated cost of the improvements, are:
• High Street from Painter Avenue to Jefferson Avenue, about $15,000.
• Two portions of Altermoor Drive, totaling about $55,600.
