The Opelika Police Department is seeking the identity of a suspect wanted for Theft.
May 13, Police began investigating a Third Degree, Theft of Property, which took place at Best Buy, at 2147 Tiger Town Parkway.
The suspect is described as a black male with a mohawk hairstyle and can be seen on camera wearing a disposable mask, black jacket, red pants, and black shoes with white soles.

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - The Opelika Police Department is asking for the publicâs help in locating a theft suspect.
On April 15, Opelika police began investigating a theft of property, first degree, that occurred in the 2000 block of Interstate Dr.
The male suspect can be seen on camera wearing a black mask, black pants, black shoes and a black shirt with a white print design on the front and a Mona Lisa design on the back.

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - An East Alabama technology company is making nationwide impacts on law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
“It’s very rewarding,” said Kevin Cummings with OCV, LLC.
OCV, LLC, an Opelika-based company, is the mastermind behind mobile apps used by about 500 public safety organizations across the country, such as sheriff’s offices and emergency management agencies.
The Opelika Police Department is one of the most recent to get their own app with the company.

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - The Opelika Police Department shared an update on their âTogether, Opelikaâ campaign that launched six months ago.
According to police, the campaigned is designed to reduce crime and increase community engagement.
Officials say since the launch, theyâve found new ways to talk with residents and build trust in the community through dozens of meetings, events and programs.
They say theyâve also expanded training for their officers with more than 4,000 hours of training in 2021. They hope to increase accountability and have better relationships with citizens.

The Opelika PD held a press conference Monday morning to give its concerned citizens and local officials an update on their new community initiative, TOGETHER OPELIKA. TOGETHER OPELIKA is a campaign to develop open dialogue setting, establishing the best relationship between the community and the Police Department. Last October, the Opelika Police Department launched the TOGETHER OPELIKA
One of the main goals was to lower crime and increase community engagement. Since the start of the campaign, there has been a decrease in robberies and thefts compared to the previous year. There’s also been an increase in the community’s involvement with crime prevention and assistance in solving crimes.
