SWEA CITY The death of a 17-year-old girl who was found unconscious at a hog-site building is under investigation, according to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies and Swea City Ambulance were called to 407 390th St. in rural Swea City on Monday for a person who was unconscious.
When first responders arrived sometime after 9:10 p.m., Victoria Marie Parra-Lerdo, of Rockwell City, was found lying on the floor. It was reported she was assisting in the cleaning and power washing of the facility.
Parra-Lerdo was pronounced dead at Kossuth County Regional Health Center.
The Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Ruthven, Iowa The man who had faced 1st Degree Murder charges in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in a lake near Ruthven last summer, has pled Guilty to, and been sentenced for, that murder.
On July 22nd last year, Palo Alto County authorities received a report of a possible body in Virgin Lake, south of Ruthven. Upon arriving deputies discovered a body about 25 feet from shore. According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called and the body, later identified as 27-year-old Rollin J. Bontrager of Washington, Iowa, was removed from the lake and transported to the Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny.
