No Charges Filed In Fatal Christmas Day Shooting Near Waterloo
Authorities have closed their investigation of a fatal Christmas day shooting near Waterloo without filing any charges in the case.
Black Hawk County sheriff s officials released additional details on the incident Tuesday. In a press release, they confirmed that the victim s father, 69-year-old David Buck, was the family member who shot and killed 43-year-old Chad Buck at 1347 E. Airline Highway. Authorities said Chad Buck lived in the home with his parents.
Sheriff s officials said their investigation revealed that an argument took place between Chad Buck and David Buck, who was in a frail medical condition. According to authorities, the altercation was heated and progressed to the point in which David Buck was concerned for his safety.

Black Hawk County sheriff’s officials released additional details on the incident Tuesday, confirming that the victim’s father, 69-year-old David Buck, was the family member who shot and killed 43-year-old Chad Buck at 1347 E. Airline Highway.
Sheriff’s officials say their investigation revealed that an argument between Chad Buck and David Buck progressed to the point in which Chad Buck threatened to kill his father. That’s when David Buck fired the shot that killed his son.

More details from a fatal Christmas Day shooting in Black Hawk County have been released, according to KWWL. 43 year old Chad Buck had become violent after an argument with his 67 year old father, David. Both David and his wife Kay claim that the father shot the son in self defense, killing him. Just three days later authorities were again called to the same address on East Airline Highway, this time for a cardiac medical episode. Efforts were made to save David’s life but he died at a hospital. He was said to be in frail medical condition prior to the episode. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office considers both of these cases closed.

Authorities say a man fatally shot a relative on Christmas Day in a Black Hawk County home. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says that the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 4:30 p.m. after a resident called 911 to report that there had been a shooting between family members. Forty-three-year-old Chad Buck was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Deputies determined that there was an argument before the shooting at Buck’s rural home. Capt. Mark Herbst of the sheriff’s department said in a news release that no further information, including the names of others involved, will be made public at this time pending further investigation and the results of the victim’s autopsy.
