City agrees to sell land; proceeds will go towards new firehouse

The land is not currently accessible by any public roadway, except for a “farm road” off of Christensen Road, east of the city. The property has no easements and Adams has described the property as being “landlocked.” The land first drew the attention of the City Council at its April 1 meeting, when Adams told council members that the city had received an unsolicited offer for the land. After conferring with City Attorney Roger Morgan, Adams and the Council decided to sell the land through a bidding process. The money from the land’s sale will be used to help pay for the construction of the city’s new fire station, which will sit upon land donated by Mountain Home resident Sonny Sharp in honor of his late parents, William Elmer “Red” and Margaret Sharp. When completed, the station will be named “Sharp Family Fire Station #2” in recognition of the family.

Work underway to widen dangerous section of highway near Tecumseh

Work has begun to improve a dangerous section of U.S. Route 160 in Ozark County just west of Tecumseh. The Missouri Department of Transportation project will widen approximately 1 mile of roadway, realign two curves, add guardrails on the south side of Route 160 and add paved shoulders. The work is being done from the Lake Norfork bridge west to near Ozark County Road 530. The highway will be reduced to one lane while work is being done, which may include some weekends. Traffic will be guided through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling in the area.
