A Mountain Home woman escaped serious injury when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a house. Only minor injuries were reported to 44-year-old Summer Overmyer who was transported by private vehicle to seek medical treatment.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash happened when Overmyer’s pickup truck ran off the right side of the roadway, lost control, returned to the roadway and skidded off the left side of the road, traveled through a fence and then struck a house.
The report did not indicate any injuries to occupants of the house.
The accident happened 10 miles southeast of Gainesville on Ozark County Road 521 Saturday afternoon at 2:35.
Work has begun to improve a dangerous section of U.S. Route 160 in Ozark County just west of Tecumseh. The Missouri Department of Transportation project will widen approximately 1 mile of roadway, realign two curves, add guardrails on the south side of Route 160 and add paved shoulders.
The work is being done from the Lake Norfork bridge west to near Ozark County Road 530.
The highway will be reduced to one lane while work is being done, which may include some weekends.
Traffic will be guided through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling in the area.
