Pa. Man Sentenced To Decade In Prison On Meth Charge The discovery of methamphetamine along with ecstasy pills, a gun and cash during a traffic stop in 2019 has netted a Pennsylvania man a 10-year prison sentence. Jerry J. Roneker Jr., 43, of Corry, was sentenced before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo on a conviction of possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. During a traffic stop March 9, 2019, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies discovered a smoking pipe in the front seat of a vehicle being driven by Roneker. The stop occurred in the town of Chautauqua due to a traffic violation.

P-J photo by Jay Young CELORON An “unmaintained wood stove” believed to have been surrounded by combustible material was found to be the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a village home late Monday. The home at 44 E. Duquesne St. in Celoron was condemned following the blaze, reported to Chautauqua County dispatch shortly before 8 p.m. Celoron and Lakewood firefighters were assisted at the scene by first responders from Jamestown, Busti and Kiantone.

Officers were called to a reported assault around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Lake Street in Celoron. It was learned that 35-year-old Thomas C. Stingel and 33-year-old Shelley M. Stingel allegedly drove their three children, including 18-year-old Corey J. Stingel, to the Celoron area “to engage in a fight with a 12-year-old.” In a news release, the Ellicott Police Department said, “It is alleged that the family located the victim in the area of East Lake Street, where he was assaulted by Corey Stingel and another juvenile male.”

NEW YORK STATE POLICE ¯ BEMUS POINT Donald Smith, 59, of Bemus Point, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Smith was stopped March 31 on Pancake Hill Road in Bemus Point for a traffic violation and was taken into custody after allegedly failing several field sobriety tests. Smith was transported to police barracks where he provided a breath sample of 0.12%. He was processed and released with tickets to appear in Ellery Town Court later. ¯ Geoffrey Ghiandoni, 32, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. Troopers were flagged downed by pedestrians Thursday for a running vehicle in the parking lot of a Jamestown business during hours of operation with an individual passed out in the driver seat. The troopers were able to get the individual, later identified as Ghiandoni, to regain consciousness and placed him under arrest after he failed several field sobriety tests. Ghiandoni is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court later.
