The Avon Town Council will discuss the summer event season on March 23, a discussion so eventful it could elicit a preparation discussion on March 9.
The council will have a chance to talk to Culture, Arts & Special Events Manager Danita Dempsey in a public meeting on Tuesday about her new report (published Friday
) which provides an overview of the events scheduled for 2021, and the anticipated public health order restrictions related to outdoor events this summer.
The report also seeks to “prepare Council for a discussion at the March 23rd regularly scheduled Avon Town Council meeting regarding Event Milestone Dates and Budget,” Dempsey told council in the report.

Before they award a $571,235 contract to demolish the former town hall building, the Avon Town Council has a few questions for contractor Michael Lindstrom of Tasman Geosciences.
Lindstrom said he’d be happy to answer the council’s questions, Town Engineer Justin Hildreth wrote in a memo published on Friday.
At the Avon Town Council’s Jan. 26 meeting, elected officials expressed concerns with weather, COVID-19, health department approvals, and the June 1 deadline they’ve imposed for the project.
“Let’s hear from the contractor directly,” said councilmember Scott Prince. “That’s something we’ve never really done, we’ve never really had these contractors come in and speak directly to us so they can answer our questions.”

The awards were presented on Jan. 25, which saw PARA voted Agency of the Year by its peers, along with Faucett Center Manager and Aquatics Director Mark Harrison receiving Professional of the Year in parks. PARA says agencies are eligible to receive the Agency of the Year award once in a five-year period and PARA was recognized with it previously in 2015.

Snow showers are likely Tuesday but the massive Nor Easter that struck the city has largely blown away, according to the National Weather Service.
