MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Dolores Gagne, 88, of Meriden, widow of the late Fred Gagne, died on Friday January 29, 2021 at home with her children by her side.
Born in Meriden on November 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (Hilte) Dennis.
She was a passionate supporter of those in need. As a Community Training Home provider for over ten years, she welcomed into her home children and young adults with mental and physical challenges. Later, her enthusiasm for the Dominican Republic Mission Team bubbled over into any conversation you had with her.

TEMPE, AZ When the pandemic first began in March 2020, business boomed at Phat Scooters.
With so many people isolating at home and searching for ways to entertain themselves in quarantine, the Tempe-based company could barely keep up with demand for their electric scooters.
Peter Johnson, chief executive officer of Phat Scooters, said that the three-year-old company had a great financial year and was looking to give back in a meaningful way. The company was set to launch its new delivery scooter at the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago before it was shut down because of the pandemic. The units were just sitting in a warehouse until Phat Scooters realized they could be put to better use.

CONNECTICUT Restaurant owners in Hartford and Tolland counties are pleased by Gov. Ned Lamont s decision to extend business hours to 11 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. Our better numbers are allowing us to slightly relax some of the restrictions, Lamont said at a news conference Monday, noting that they tend to skew toward an older demographic that is now getting coronavirus vaccinations.
The restaurant curfew will be pushed back from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. with 50 percent dining capacity. Lamont noted other nearby states have eliminated or pushed their curfews later into the night, but generally Connecticut allows a higher capacity limit.

WEST HARTFORD, CT A West Hartford house of worship is going solar.
Verogy, a Hartford-based solar developer, has teamed up with the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford to put a solar system on the temple s roof.
The project includes a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement, under which the synagogue will purchase its power at a lower rate than what its currently pays a utility.

There is no upfront out-of-pocket expense with a PPA, so all the savings generated from the discounted energy will be a direct financial benefit for the synagogue, according to Verogy officials. The electricity usage and available roof space makes the Emanuel Synagogue an ideal candidate for this type of project, said Bryan Fitzgerald, the director of development at Verogy. Now is the perfect time for businesses and non-profits to tackle the uncertainty around electricity rates by going green.
