“Good Roots” will visit Subiaco and Little Rock to delve into the ways Subiaco Abbey and Urbana Farmstead are creating operational income while simultaneously benefiting their communities. “Good Roots: Agritourism” will air during Arkansas Week on Friday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m. on Arkansas PBS and livestream at myarpbs.org/watchlive.
An increasingly popular and expanding opportunity for agricultural producers, agritourism is a $1 billion industry in the United States and directly generates nearly 9 million jobs, according to a news release. Kat Robinson is such a recognizable figure in the Arkansas food scene that sometimes to get the full customer experience, as opposed to the food writer experience, she visits restaurants in disguise.
âI’ve developed a particularly signature look over the years,â Robinson said, âthe hat, the duster, the big flowy sleeves.â Since Robinsonâs documentary film âMake Room For Pie: A Delicious Slice of The Natural Stateâ came out, she says, she tends to be recognized on sight by more people when sheâs out reviewing food. âThat’s good, I guess, but there are times I just want to be regular folk. ⦠I want to write about what everyone gets.â (She wouldn’t say how she disguises, because then she wouldn’t be disguised.)
