STPs no longer polluting Hindon river: UPPCB | Noida News

NOIDA: Nearly six months after the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) held 14 sewage treatment plants (STP) in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad responsible for releasing untreated effluents into the Hindon river, the regional offices of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) in both the neighbouring districts have given them a clean chit. In Ghaziabad, the STPs are located in the areas of Govindpuram, Vijay Nagar and Indirapuram. In Gautam Budh Nagar, the STPs are located in Noida sectors 123, 168, 54 and 50, and in the Kasna and Ecotech areas of Greater Noida. Utsav Sharma, regional officer of UPPCB (Ghaziabad), said, “All Ghaziabad STPs have been marked compliant by now. The concentration of pollutants in the Hindon in Ghaziabad increases because the water from the river gets tapped out by the Hindon canal. The main pollution load on the Hindon occurs before the river even enters Ghaziabad. However, we have ensured compliance of all the STPs in the district.”
