SWG3 submits plans for street art studios

SWG3 s plans for street art studios A GRAFFITI and street art hub could open at SWG3 after plans were submitted to the council. The arts and events company has asked for permission to develop the ‘Yardworks Studio’ – building on “the success of the annual Yardworks Festival”. Refurbished shipping containers and a two-storey main building would make up the Eastvale Place hub. “Yardworks Studio seeks to be more than just a home for graffiti art,” the plans state. It aspires “to be an inclusive community facility where people of all ages and abilities can participate in a wide range of street art and group endeavours”.

Glasgow s latest street art mural honours Pollok superwoman

Donna, left, with artist Molly. A POLLOK ‘superwoman’ who worked tirelessly to support the vulnerable during Covid has been honoured with her very own street art mural. Donna Foote is one of only three women across the UK to be celebrated in Amazon Handmade’s #TheArtofMotherhood series, commissioned in time for Mother’s Day this Sunday. It aims to recognise those ‘mothering the nation’ by caring for their communities over the past 12 months. The 52-year-old, who has five children, was recognised for her work in founding Greater Pollok Services CIC, an organisation which offers food, prescriptions and mental health support for people living in Greater Pollok.
