On Twitter, Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran thanked Philippine officials for the approval of of Bharat s EUA application for Covaxin. In a briefing chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez announced that the FDA had issued the EUA for the Janssen vaccine. Galvez thanked the FDA for the approval of the EUA.

The COVID-19 vaccine is manufactured by Bharat Biotech, an Indian biotechnology company. The announcement was made at a meeting with Ambica International Corp. and IP Biotech, the distributors of Covaxin. “The private sector purchases from AstraZeneca, Moderna and Novavax will be augmented by these new vaccines that will come from India. Covaxin is promising as it was the one used by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has posted 81 percent efficacy from the interim results of its phase 3 trial. It is now only awaiting FDA approval,” said Concepcion, founder of Go Negosyo.

PEZA, embassies work together to attract investments

THE country has signed an agreement with India for a potential supply of BrahMos cruise missiles, a product of collaboration by India and Russia, which the Philippine government hopes will boost coastal defence. Philippine Defence Undersecretary Raymund Elefante and Indian Ambassador Shambu Kumaran signed an implementing agreement on Tuesday at Camp Aguinaldo, headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Department of National Defence on Facebook. The deal involved the procurement of defence material and equipment by the Philippines from India.“We are buying the BrahMos missiles, ” said Philippine Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who witnessed the signing ceremony.
