Women s Work

Join Arthur Greenberg Undergraduate Curatorial Fellows Lydia McKelvie, Alice Nguyen, and Hannah Ward as they discuss their Teaching Gallery exhibition, Women’s Work, which examines depictions of feminized labor through a series of compelling juxtapositions among art and artists from the 19th century to the present in the United States, England, France. The exhibition is supported by the Arthur Greenberg Exhibition Program Fund. The program will include live closed captions. Free, but registration is required (link to come). A recording of the program will become available on the Museum’s YouTube channel in the weeks following.

Explore St. Louis’ LGBTQIA+ communities in the Missouri History Museum’s Gateway to Pride virtual exhibit The exhibit, part of a larger collecting initiative, makes clear the museum’s commitment to highlighting queer histories and empowering marginal voices. Courtesy of the Missouri History Museum Gateway to Pride is the Missouri History Museum’s momentous first step to bolster LGBTQIA+ representation in its programming and collection. Featuring oral stories, cultural artifacts, and an illustrated timeline, this virtual exhibit could be the gateway to understanding and supporting St. Louis’ LGBTQIA+ communities.  “We want everybody to find themselves here,” says curator Sharon Smith, “This was an opportunity for us to make the LGBTQIA+ community part of the collections and everything that we do at the museum.”

Lunar New Year is celebrated in many countries throughout Asia: China, Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Tibet, and Mongolia, to name a few. It often involves family gatherings and traditions to usher in the new year, such as the exchange of red envelopes, lion dance, ancestral rites, and stunning displays of firecrackers. Although traditions may differ across cultures, at the heart of Lunar New Year is familial love and hope for an auspicious future.
