Boston man arrested after assaulting Mass State Trooper during traffic stop

January 31, 2021 2:25 pm RANDOLPH, Mass. (WLNE) – A Boston man is facing twelve charges after assaulting a Massachusetts State Trooper early Sunday morning, according to state police officials. A spokesperson for Massachusetts State Police said the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. The suspect reportedly punched, choked, and pushed the troopers head into the pavement while they were fighting on the side of the highway. State police said the incident started after a state trooper pulled over a purple Dodge Charger driving 81 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 93 south in Randolph. During the traffic stop, the trooper found that Devin Fuller, 29, of Boston, was driving with a suspended license. According to state police, Fuller refused to comply with the trooper’s request to get out of his car and observed him repeatedly looking down at his center console.

List: Distance learning, parking bans initiated in anticipation of winter storm

January 31, 2021 4:22 pm PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Cities and towns throughout the state of Rhode Island have issued parking bans and school closures in anticipation of Monday’s winter storm. The City of Providence announced a parking ban throughout the city, which will go into effect on Monday, February, at 6 a.m. until further notice. The Providence Public School District said on Monday, schools will be moving to distance learning due to the inclement weather. Warwick police said a parking ban will be put in place from 6 a.m. on Monday until 3 p.m. Tuesday. Police in Woonsocket tweeted on Sunday, that a parking ban will go into effect starting Monday at 11 a.m.  The department urged residents to find off-street parking so DPW crews can properly plow streets.

(WLNE) – Fire officials identified a man who died in a house fire in Blackstone Saturday morning.  Officials said the fire broke out at the two-family home on Auclair Street around 2 a.m. On Tuesday, the state fire marshal identified the victim as 30-year-old Teagan Lafayette. Lafayette lived at the home, according to fire officials. The fire reportedly started in the second floor living room, after a power strip failed. Due to the damage and destruction, it was unclear if all or some of the electrical appliances were plugged in and running.
